Positive Test At Lausitzring For Rea And KRT.

Jonathan Rea and Kawasaki Racing Team interrupted the summer break in the 2017 WorldSBK race schedule to test the Ninja ZX-10RR race machine at Lausitzring in Germany over the last two days.

Rea and the team concentrated on testing in dry conditions. Overnight rain on Monday meant that the bulk of testing on Tuesday took place in the later part of the morning and afternoon. Predicted afternoon rain on Wednesday ended the team’s programme.  At that point, however, Jonathan topped the timesheet, one tenth of a second ahead of team-mate Tom Sykes.

The mid season break will now continue with race action getting underway again by returning to Lausitzring on the weekend of 18-20 August.

Jonathan Rea said: “After last year it was very valuable to test here at the Lausitzring. We were able to do some functional tests for KHI and also evaluate some ideas for chassis and front  suspension set up. The weather changed after lunch, which brought the curtain down on our test - but we knew it was coming. We were able to evaluate all the items in the plan before then thanks to Pere’s good planning. Yesterday we were also able to run a race simulation and it’s great to see that we have improved the overall base of the bike compared to last year.”
