WorldSBK Heads To Czech Republic

The eighth round of the 2023 FIM Superbike World Championship will take place at the Autodrom Most circuit in the Czech Republic between 28-30 July, with Jonathan Rea keen to put in a strong performance before the start of a long summer break in race action.   

Jonathan has raced at the unique 4.212km long Most circuit twice before on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR. He has scored four podium finishes from his six individual race starts at Most, making it the only current WorldSBK venue he has not taken at least one race win at. Jonathan is the record holder for career WorldSBK race victories, with 118 to his credit. A full 103 of those have been taken on Kawasaki machinery, whilst competing for the official KRT squad.

During 2023 Rea has taken eight podiums and is fourth overall in the championship, just seven points behind the third placed rider.

The Autodrom Most is located in the north west of the Czech Republic, very close to the border with Germany. It can be described as a very ‘busy’ circuit, cramming 21 corners into its 4.212km length. The long and narrow nature of the circuit layout, running across a curved hillside, means that Most is characterised by its many strong changes of direction at both high and low speed.

Jonathan Rea, stated: “Most is a relatively new track to the calendar and we have been there twice now, so we don’t have a massive amount of data compared to some other circuits. It’s a tough track to master as it has a little bit of everything. There are stop-start sections, flowing sections and lots of changes of direction. It is really critical to have the bike well set-up there. That will be our prime focus on Friday morning, working towards the longer races. Hopefully we will get some consistent weather and find a good feeling. It is a track that I have struggled at in the past; struggled with the nature of the place a little bit. The last few races have been positive for us, battling for podiums through this middle part of the year and always racing inside the top five. That will be the key, to keep that trend going by fighting for podiums. It will be a nice round to try and get a few good results at before the summer break. It is always better to go into the break with a positive feeling.”
