Jonathan Rea Voted 2017 MCN Man Of The Year
Jonathan Rea received another accolade today at Phillip Island, on the eve of the first round of the 2018 FIM Superbike World Championship. The reigning, and three time world champion accepted the 2017 MCN Man Of The Year Award.
Motorcycle News (MCN) is one of the world’s largest weekly motorcycle titles, published in the UK covering all aspects of motorcycling and motorcycle sport. This annual award is voted for by the readers and has been awarded since 1955. Previous winners have included some of the all time legends of the sport including John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi
Having gratefully accepted the award today, Jonathan’s focus now turns to the defence of his title, which begins with FP1 at 09:45 (GMT +11) tomorrow morning.
Jonathan stated: “Growing up in the UK I was aware how the MCN Man of the Year Award works, being a public vote awarded by the readers of the biggest weekly publication in motorcycles, throughout all disciplines and throughout the world. It is super nice that the public got behind me and voted for me so thank you very much to everyone. It’s the perfect way now to completely close the chapter on 2017 before we start work here in Australia, which I am really excited about. If I can go half way as good as achieving the goals I set in 2017 I am sure I will have a great year but so far 2018 is tee’d up to be a good one.”
